PhD position on EU post-crisis legitimacy (PhD network PLATO – ESR11)

The Institute for European Studies of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow invites applications for a PhD fellowship on ‘legitimacy crisis and identity politics’ as part of the PhD network ‘The Post-Crisis Legitimacy of the European Union’ (PLATO).

Applicants should hold a master degree in political science, culture or media studies, sociology or a related social science discipline.

The position is announced for a period of 3 years with teaching obligations (no more than 45 teaching hours throughout the whole programme). The starting date for the fellowship is 1 October 2017.

BA in European Studies: European Politics and Society in a Global Context

The 3-year BA programme gives students a core knowledge of European politics, culture and society, whilst emphasizing Europe’s role in a wider global framework. Key concepts, such as culture, identity, diversity, democratic processes, Europeanisation and globalization are discussed  in an interdisciplinary manner. Tackling with European affairs through a sociological, political and economic lens, students gain a cross-sectional awareness of the many challenges facing contemporary societies. The programme equips with tools to analyse current events and understand the complexities of political, socio-economic phenomena, and prepares students for further education in the field of international relations.

Once an applicant has been admitted to the programme, he/she must formally enrol into the programme via the OAS system and submit supplementary documents upon enrolment. Additionally, students who have enroled and decided to join CES must submit a few last additional documents to complete their student file.
